Set up MCF using the Multichannel Fulfillment app for Shopify

Set up Multichannel Fulfillment

To activate Multichannel Fulfillment (MCF) for your store, use the following steps.

Set up steps

To set up MCF, you must complete the following steps, in order:

  1. Review your matched SKUs and activate Amazon service
  2. Configure shipping options
Note: MCF with Prime is only available in the US. To use MCF with Prime, you must also add the Prime delivery card to your product detail pages after completing steps 1 and 2.

After you complete reviewing your SKUs, configuring your shipping options, and adding the Prime delivery card, the app is set up for MCF fulfillment with Prime.

Best practices

Order routing: MCF follows your store’s configurations as set up in your Shopify settings. To ensure correct assignment of orders, review your Order routing configuration, which appears in the Shipping and Delivery menu under Settings in your Shopify admin. For MCF with Prime, use the Ranked locations rule and place the Amazon Fulfillment location as the top priority to ensure that the Prime shipping option appears at checkout for eligible items.

Automate MCF fulfillment: You can submit orders to MCF for fulfillment manually, or you can automate this process using one of the following three options: 1) Shopify order processing setting; 2) Shopify Flow; or 3) a third-party app. For more information, go to Automating MCF fulfillment. Automating MCF with Prime fulfillment is specifically important to avoid delays to Prime shipping.

Bundles: You can use the app to fulfill bundles created in your Shopify store. To fulfill a bundle with MCF or MCF with Prime:

  1. Use any bundles app from the Shopify App Store to create the bundles.
  2. Map all bundle components (SKUs) in the Amazon Multichannel Fulfillment app.

Important: To offer MCF with Prime for a bundle, all bundle components must be enabled for Prime.

Optional configurations

Use MCF without Amazon logistics (US only):

You can choose to block US orders from being shipped by Amazon Logistics, for a 5% fee surcharge. Blocking Amazon Logistics increases the risk of your orders being unfulfilled or delivered late if there are no alternative carriers available. For more information, go to Using MCF without Amazon Logistics.

Add the Prime delivery card for MCF with Prime to your product detail pages:

The Prime delivery card displays delivery estimates and Prime messaging on your product detail pages. When added, the card surfaces the following copy for products eligible for Prime delivery:

“FREE delivery for Prime members. Get it as soon as [date]. Store’s shipping and return policies apply. Learn more.”

To add the Prime delivery card (US only):

  1. On your Shopify admin, choose Online Store and then Themes.
  2. Choose Customize for the theme you want to edit.
  3. At the top of the page, on the drop-down menu (initially Home page), change the selection to Products, and then select the template that you want to edit. For example, the Default Product template.
  4. On the side menu, in the Sections toolbar, go to the Template section or the specific section where you have key product information, such as the title, price, buy button, and so on. Hover between existing blocks/apps and then choose add block when it appears.
  5. In the menu that appears, select the Apps tab, and then choose Prime delivery card.
  6. Position the Prime delivery card block on your product detail page template. The best practice is to place it near the Add to cart button, so shoppers see Prime delivery information before purchasing.
  7. In the customization pane, customize how you want the block to appear.
  8. Choose Save.

The Prime delivery card now appears on product detail pages for any Prime enabled product, showing shoppers that they can get FREE delivery as Prime members.

Add MCF fast badges to show delivery estimates (US only)

MCF fast badges allows you to display fast delivery estimates on the product detail pages of your Shopify site, on your Google product listings ads, and on your TikTok ads. MCF fast badges are only available in the US.

Upgrade to Prime for existing merchants

Prime provides fast, FREE shipping at no additional cost for your first 12 months. If you already use MCF and want to add Prime to your store, use the following steps.

Choose Get started to begin the upgrade flow. The process has two steps:

  1. Add Prime delivery card — Add the Prime delivery card to your product detail pages using the theme editor. Steps:
    1. On the app home screen card, choose Add in theme editor to open the Shopify theme editor with the Prime delivery card block ready to place.
    2. Position the Prime delivery card block on your product detail page template. The best practice is to place it near the Add to cart button so that shoppers can see the Prime delivery information before purchasing.
    3. In the theme editor, choose Save.
    4. Return to the app home screen, check the I’ve completed this step checkbox, and then choose Done to confirm.
  2. Turn on Prime for SKUs — Choose which SKUs should have Prime enabled. You can turn on Prime for all SKUs at once or select specific SKUs from the product catalog page.

After completing both steps, you’ll see a confirmation: Congrats, your store is now live with Prime!
