Activate payments

Set up Shopify Payments and turn on Amazon Pay as a wallet

To activate payments on your Shopify admin, you need to:

Configure Shopify Payments to use Amazon Pay

Payments are processed and managed in your Shopify admin where you can:

  • View and pay your balance
  • Link your bank account and credit card
  • Manage disputes
  • View payments
  • Download reports

Note: To configure Shopify Payments and Buy with Prime, you must Activate Amazon Pay.

  1. On the Shopify Admin, choose Settings, and then Payments.
  2. Choose Activate Shopify Payments.
    Note: To review the requirements to set up Shopify Payments, go to Shopify Payments for the United States.
  3. Enter the following details:
    1. Business type: From the drop-down menu, select your business type.
    2. Business details:
      • (Optional) Employer Identification Number (EIN): Nine-digit number that identifies your business or account representative.
      • Address: Street, city, zip code, and state.
    3. Personal details: Business owner of significant shareholder information.
      • Name: First and last name.
      • Date of birth: Month, day and year.
      • Social Security Number (SSN): Nine-digit number to verify your identify and keep your account secure.
    4. Product details:
      • Business category
      • Business subcategory
      • Description of products or services.
    5. Wallets: Choose Amazon Pay.

Note: You need to activate Amazon Pay to continue your Buy with Prime set up.

Set up Amazon Pay as a Wallet

To set up Amazon Pay as a Wallet, follow these steps:

  1. On the Shopify Admin, choose Settings, and then Payments.
  2. To activate Amazon Pay as a Wallet, choose the checkbox for Amazon Pay, and then choose Sign in to activate. You have two options:
    • If you see an alert under the Shopify Payments title that says: Activate Amazon Pay Wallet to continue Buy with Prime set up, choose Activate.
    • If you don’t see an alert to activate Amazon Pay Wallet, go to Wallets and choose Activate next to Amazon Pay.
  3. You’re prompted to sign into your Seller Central or Multi-Channel Fulfillment account. If you don’t have an account, go to Seller Central or Multi-Channel Fulfillment account.
  4. Enter your site domains. You can enter one or more site domains at any point.
  5. Enter your privacy policy URL.
  6. Choose Next.
  7. Choose Agree and continue to associate your Seller Central or Multi-Channel Fulfillment account with Shopify.
  8. On the Shopify Payments page, Wallets section, validate that Amazon Pay has a check mark and is activated.
  9. Close the payments page to go back to Add Buy with Prime to your site on the merchant console.

Note: When you complete setting up Amazon Pay as a Wallet, go to Set up and link accounts.

Validate if Amazon Pay is set up as a Wallet

To validate if Amazon Pay is already set up as a Wallet, follow these steps:

  1. Go to your Shopify Admin.
  2. Choose Settings, and then Payments.
  3. Choose Wallets, and then verify if Amazon Pay has a check mark next to it that indicates that it’s active.

If Amazon Pay isn’t active, and you want to activate it, go to Set up Amazon Pay as a Wallet.

Note: When you complete setting up Amazon Pay as a Wallet, go to Set up and link accounts.

Deactivate Amazon Pay as a Wallet

To deactivate Amazon Pay as your Wallet, follow these steps:

  1. Go to your Shopify Admin.
  2. On the side menu, choose Settings, and then Payments.
  3. Go to Wallets.
  4. Deselect Amazon Pay.
    You can see Amazon Pay deactivated as a Wallet in Shopify Payments.
