For Buy with Prime orders, the Prime return policy applies. In your Shopify store, you must add the Prime return policy content and add a post-order link to the Prime return policy.
For MCF with Prime orders, your store’s own return policy applies.
Set up a return policy
To set up a return policy, use the following steps:
Note: For details about return policies, go to the Shopify Help Center return rules.
- Open your Shopify admin.
- Go to Settings and then choose Policies.
- In the Written return and refund policy section, enter your store’s return and refund policy, or choose Create from template to generate a default template policy.
- Choose Save to add your return and refund policy.
Note: You must follow the Prime return policy for Buy with Prime items and update your existing policies to incorporate the Prime return policy at About Our Returns Policies.
Add the Prime return policy to your return policy content
The following procedure applies to Buy with Prime orders only.
- Open your Shopify admin.
- Choose Online store, and then Pages.
- Select your store’s return policy page.
- Add the following content to your return policy page including a hyperlink to the Buy with Prime post order page: “What is the return policy for Buy with Prime Orders?
“Some Buy with Prime orders are eligible for return. Click here to start the return process for Buy with Prime orders. For more information on the return policy for Buy with Prime orders, see About Our Returns Policies.” - Choose Save changes.
Add the Buy with Prime post-order link to Shopify store navigation
The following procedure applies to Buy with Prime orders only.
- Open your Shopify admin.
- Choose Online store, then Navigation, Footer/Main menu, and then Add menu item.
- Enter the page title and paste the Buy with Prime post-order link in the link field.
- Choose Save changes.
- If you have linked your return policy page on your Footer/Main menu, add the following content to that page: “What is the return policy for Buy with Prime orders?
Some Buy with Prime orders are eligible for return. Click here to start the return process for a Buy with Prime order. For more information on the return policy for Buy with Prime orders, see About Our Returns Policies.”
Note: When you complete updating your return policy, go to back to the main menu of the app that you’re using to set up Buy with Prime on your Shopify site.
Returns for MCF with Prime orders
If you use MCF with Prime, you manage returns for MCF with Prime orders under the return policy for your store, not under the Prime return policy.
What shoppers see:
- On the product detail page (PDP), the delivery card shows “Store’s shipping and return policies apply.”
- The order confirmation email for verified Prime members shows “Returns for this order will be managed by [Merchant] under their standard return policy.”
What you need to do:
- In your Shopify store, configure a return and refund policy. For more information, go to Set up a return policy.
- Handle returns for MCF with Prime orders through your standard Shopify returns workflow. You don’t need to use the Buy with Prime merchant console for MCF with Prime orders.
