Configure shipping options

MCF offers different shipping speeds in different geographies. You can choose which MCF speed to use. You first create the shipping rates that you want to offer, either within the Multichannel Fulfillment app for Shopify or directly through Shopify settings. If you create the rates in Shopify settings, make sure that they’re created under the relevant Amazon Fulfillment location.

After you’ve created the rates, you can map an MCF shipping speed to each rate within the Multichannel Fulfillment app for Shopify. For example, in the US, you might choose to charge $5 for Expedited shipping while offering Standard shipping for free.

Notes:

• If you can’t find or don’t set a matching shipping rate, the default shipping speed configured in the Shipping Options page in the app applies as a fallback. Also, if a delivery estimate can’t be retrieved for the requested speed, MCF automatically applies the Standard speed to avoid rejecting the order and risking the sale.
• If a higher tier speed (that is, faster) isn’t achievable, Amazon charges only for the speed that was actually used. You can decide to reconcile the cost difference with the shopper.

To choose the default MCF shipping speed for each region/country:

1. Select the default MCF shipping speed for the region. Each region might have different speed options.
2. For any MCF rate that you’ve set up using Shopify shipping profiles for Amazon fulfillment locations, select the Amazon shipping speed that you’d like to associate. Go to Shopify shipping rates to learn more about how to set up custom rates using Shopify settings.

Important: The default MCF shipping rate is free. To charge your shoppers for MCF shipping, you need to create a shipping rate for MCF and then map it to the speed of your choosing.

To map rates set up in your Shopify shipping profile to Amazon shipping speeds:

1. In your Shopify admin, go to Settings and then Shipping and Delivery.
2. Under Shipping, select the shipping profile that you want to edit. If you have multiple shipping profiles, you need to complete the next steps below for each profile.
3. Locate the Amazon Fulfillment location that want to update. If you’re using MCF in multiple regions, such as US and UK, you see a separate location for each region.
4. Click Add rate.
5. For Rate type, select Flat rate.
6. For Shipping rate, select Custom.
7. Enter an appropriate name for Custom rate name.
8. Enter the price that you want to charge your shoppers for shipping for Price.
9. Click Done.
10. Click Save (top of the page) to save your changes.
11. On the Multichannel Fulfillment app, go to the Shipping options page.
12. Locate the rate that you’ve created under the corresponding shipping profile and then select the MCF shipping speed that you want to associate with that rate.

Note: You can update the General profile and configure multiple custom profiles as appropriate.

Tip: The app lists the Amazon Prime rate (if applicable) alongside your custom rates for MCF, but its speed mapping is system managed. You don’t need to manually map it to an MCF speed.

To ensure MCF works as expected for your store, update your Order routing configuration in Shopify settings and Automate MCF fulfillment. For best practices for MCF fulfillment, go to Best practices.

You can offer Prime shipping speeds through Buy with Prime or MCF with Prime.

Buy with Prime
When you set up Buy with Prime, a Prime shipping rate is automatically created for your store under the Amazon Fulfillment location alongside any existing rates for MCF.

• Description: Fast, free Prime Delivery
• Price: $0 (always free)
• Availability: US only

This Prime rate is fully managed by the app and can’t be modified in any way.

When you enable Prime for any product on the SKU mapping page, the app automatically adds a Prime shipping rate under the Amazon Fulfillment location in your US shipping profile alongside any existing rates for MCF.

The system manages the MCF with Prime rate. The following fields are auto-healed and can’t be permanently overridden:

• Shipping rate (speed mapping)
• Custom rate name
• Custom delivery description
• Price

Only conditions are merchant-configurable. For example, you can set a free shipping threshold.
Note: Prime shipping is always free as a benefit to members, so you won’t be able to charge shipping fees but you can set a free shipping threshold.

Fallback behavior:
If an order doesn’t match the Amazon Prime rate (for example, the shopper is not a Prime member or the rate mapping is missing), the order falls back to MCF Standard. The Prime rate is never used as the default fallback; it only applies when explicitly matched.

Opting out of MCF with Prime:
To remove the Amazon Prime shipping rate, turn off Prime for all SKUs using the Manage Prime bulk action on the SKU mapping page. There is no separate opt-out on the Shipping options page. After Prime is deactivated for all SKUs, the Amazon Prime rate is automatically removed.

If you’re setting up a country, you’re now complete. The app is set up, and your MCF country is ready to go.
