Buy with Prime orders are automatically fulfilled by Amazon. All MCF orders, including MCF with Prime, follow the shipping and delivery settings for your Shopify store and use the same automation paths. Any Shopify Flow or Order Automator rule that targets the Amazon Fulfillment location automatically covers both MCF and MCF with Prime orders.
You can submit orders for fulfillment manually, or you can automate the process using one of the following options:
- Option 1: Change Automatic Fulfillment settings (free of charge)
- Option 2: Use Shopify Flow (free of charge)
- Option 3: Use the Order Automator app (paid)
Option 1: Change Automatic Fulfillment settings
- On your Shopify admin, choose General and then Order Processing.
- Choose Automatically fulfill the order‘s line items.
- At the top of the page, click Save.
Note: This setting might not work for everyone. For example, some Order Management Systems (OMS) require merchants to keep this setting deactivated and fulfill submissions manually. To activate automatic submission for only MCF fulfillments and not others, choose Option 2 or Option 3.
Option 2: Shopify Flow
- Download Shopify Flow.
- Click Create Workflow, and then Select a Trigger.
- Search for and then select Order ready to fulfill.
- Click the plus sign (+) next to Then, and then select condition. Example: Equal to.
- Click Add Criteria.
- Click Fulfillment Order on the left side, and then select assignedLocation on the right side.
- Click name.
- For the name of the field, enter Amazon Fulfillment.
- Click the plus sign (+) next to Then after the second step in the workflow, and then choose Action.
- Search for and then select Submit Fulfillment Request.
Your workflow should look like this:
11. On the top right, select Turn on workflow.
Note: The assignedLocation = ‘Amazon Fulfillment’ condition automatically picks up all MCF order types routed to the Amazon Fulfillment location, including Standard, Expedited , and MCF with Prime orders. No additional rules are needed for MCF with Prime.
Tip: You can identify MCF with Prime orders on the Shopify orders page by the Amazon: Prime members get fast shipping shipping rate so that you can verify that the automation is working correctly for MCF with Prime orders.
Option 3: Order Automator App
(This is the paid option)
- On the Shopify app store, install Order Automator App.
- Select $10/mo plan, which includes a 7-day free trial.
- On the Shopify admin left menu, under Order Automator, select Auto Fulfill.
- Delete any existing fulfillment rules that might appear.
- Under the Create fulfillment rule section, add a rule. Example: If product assigned location is equal to Amazon Fulfillment.
- On the Action section, choose Request fulfillment to a 3rd party fulfillment service.
- On the Location section, choose Amazon Fulfillment.
- Activate the fulfillment rule.
Test that the Order Automation settings work correctly
- Place a test order for an MCF SKU that’s assigned to the Amazon Fulfillment location.
- After the order is placed, click the order timeline to ensure that you see that fulfillment was requested and accepted by Amazon MCF. Note: the order should appear in Seller Central.
- Place a test order for an MCF with Prime SKU. Verify that the order initiates automation and is submitted for fulfillment. In your Shopify admin, on the orders page, confirm that the shipping rate is Amazon: Prime members get fast shipping.
- To confirm that the automation rule doesn’t work for orders outside of MCF, place an order for an SKU that isn’t assigned to the Amazon MCF location. The automation rule should leave this order in an unfulfilled status.
