Automating MCF fulfillment

Select option for automating MCF fulfillment

Buy with Prime orders are automatically fulfilled by Amazon. MCF, on the other hand, follows your store’s shipping and delivery settings. You can choose to submit orders to MCF for fulfillment manually, or you can automate this process using one of the following three options:

  • Option 1: Change Automatic Fulfillment settings (free of charge)
  • Option 2: Use Shopify Flow (free of charge)
  • Option 3: Use the Order Automator app (paid)

Option 1: Change Automatic Fulfillment settings

  1. On your Shopify admin, choose General and then Order Processing.
  2. Choose Automatically fulfill the order‘s line items.
  3. At the top of the page, click Save.

Note: This setting might not work for everyone. For example, some Order Management Systems (OMS) require merchants to keep this setting deactivated and fulfill submissions manually. To activate automatic submission for only MCF fulfillments and not others, choose Option 2 or Option 3.

Option 2: Shopify Flow

  1. Download Shopify Flow.
  2. Click Create Workflow, and then Select a Trigger.
  3. Search for and then select Order ready to fulfill.
  4. Click the plus sign (+) next to Then, and then select condition. Example: Equal to.
  5. Click Add Criteria.
  6. Click Fulfillment Order on the left side, and then select assignedLocation on the right side.
  7. Click name.
  8. For the name of the field, enter Amazon Fulfillment.

Option 3: Order Automator App

(This is the paid option)

  1. On the Shopify app store, install Order Automator App.
  2. Select $10/mo plan, which includes a 7 day free trial.
  3. On the Shopify admin left menu, select Auto Fulfill under Order Automator.
  4. Delete any existing fulfillment rules that might appear.
  5. Under the Create fulfillment rule section, add a rule. Example: If product assigned location is equal to Amazon Fulfillment.
  6. On the Action section, choose Request fulfillment to a 3rd party fulfillment service.
  7. On the Location section, choose Amazon Fulfillment.
  8. Activate fulfillment rule.

Test that the Order Automation settings work correctly

  1. Place a test order for a SKU that’s assigned to the Amazon MCF location.
  2. After the order is placed, click the order timeline to ensure that you see that fulfillment was requested and accepted by Amazon MCF. Note: the order should appear in Seller Central.
  3. To confirm that the automation rule doesn’t work for non MCF orders, place an order for an SKU that’s not assigned to the Amazon MCF location. The automation rule should leave this order in an unfulfilled status.
